Immediate insights and a strong foundation for making data-driven decisions

Van den Elzen Plants recognized the potential to derive greater value from their data, but they lacked a future-proof data architecture. Data was collected from various sources, including multiple climate computers, but it was not centralized. This made it challenging to manage processes efficiently and to plan for the future. Their goal was to systematically integrate data-driven practices into their business operations by utilizing smart dashboards and AI models

The collaboration began with a Quick Scan, during which the Datacation team immersed themselves in the daily practices of strawberry cultivation. By working across various departments, they gained a comprehensive understanding of the processes, challenges, and opportunities involved. Following this, a data strategy was developed collaboratively, outlining how data and AI could be implemented gradually to enhance predictability and efficiency in cultivation.

Based on this strategy, a robust data architecture was established to integrate information from multiple systems. Focusing on a specific production line, the team developed dashboards that provide real-time insights. Additionally, AI models were created to predict growth curves and offer recommendations to growers on the ideal timing for cultivation interventions.

Thanks to a successful collaboration, Van den Elzen Plants has established a strong foundation for data-driven cultivation.

  • A future-proof data architecture integrates information from various climate control systems.
  • Dashboards offer real-time insights into the condition of crops across multiple locations.
  • AI models are utilized to predict growth and provide recommendations for cultivation actions.

The solution is currently being expanded to include raspberry cultivation, further demonstrating Datacation's commitment as a long-term partner for Van den Elzen Plants in the areas of data and AI
